The new program of events planned for December is out, and there is a lot going on. Lot’s of charitable events going on so please try and attend at least one if you can.
December 3rd-8th: The International Club of Salobreña presents “Women on Fire” an art show. Exhibition Hall in the public library 11-2pm and 6-9pm. Four talented artists from the area present their work. Admission is Free.
Tonight Dec 6th: Dina & The HOly Band, an Amy Winehouse Tribute band will be performing at 9pm. Admission is 5 euros in the Auditorium
Friday Dec 7th: 3rd Annual Flamenco Song Festival 8pm in the Auditorium. Admission 3 euros
Saturday Dec 8th: Poeta & Mendigo. It’s listed as a Theatrical Spectacle of dance and music, 9pm in the Auditorium. Admission 12 euros
Wednesday 12 Dec-18 Dec: 14th Annual Senior’s Craft Fare. Monday- Friday 5pm-8pm in the Exhibition Hall at the Public Library.
Friday Dec 14th: It’s Theatre for the kids, “Sleeping Beauty“. This is an award winning adaptation. 6pm in the Auditorium, Admission 3 euros. Duration 50 minutes.
Saturday Dec 15th: An evening of Music and Dance, all in benefit of the local Catholic Charity. They do a lot of good work here in the area assisting some 220 families year round with food and clothing . Show starts at 8pm in the Auditorium. Admission is 1kg of a non-perishable food or a Child’s Toy. Dig deep people. Even if you can’t stay for the show, why not show the spirit of Christmas and drop off a toy or a kilo of food. Ideas for the food are olive oil, cooking oil, 3-pack tuna, rice, dried beans, sardines, any and all will be appreciated! Keep your eyes open, collection stations are popping up all over town for brief periods of time. It’s the Season to Give.
Sunday Dec 16th: The Angel Bermúdez School of Art presents Colors of Flamenco “A stroll through the Music of Lorca”. Show starts at 1pm in the Auditorium. Admission is 5 euros. All proceeds go to the Andalucian Cancer Society. AECC
Thursday Dec 20th: It’s a Caroling Contest. 5pm in the Auditorium. Organized by Radio Salobreña and the Association of Chiringitos on the Costa Tropical (they are all those beach bars and restaurants we love so well). Admission is 1 euro with all proceeds going to Project 12-30 a charitable organization.
Friday Dec 21st: A lecture on the “Origins of Salobreña” Historian Federico Matrinez will give a lecture on the history of Salobreña, with an update on the Roman influence here on the Costa Tropical. Lecture starts at 8pm (don’t be late) in the library. Admission is free.
Wednesday Dec 26th: Another evening for the kids. Grupo D ÁCORDE, Rosi Fernández, Rocio Y María Alán. 7pm in the Auditorium, Admission 1 childs Toy. This is another production of Project 12-30. A charitable program to aid the needy. Please give generously if you can.
Friday Dec 28th: Theatre for the Kids: A production of ” The Cardboard Box”. 6pm in the Auditorium, Admission 3 euros. All proceeds go to assist Lidia Rodriguez, a severely handicapped young girl. You probably have noticed the bottle cap receptacles all over the area.
Saturday Dec 29: Something for the youth in the area. KañaSur in concert. 8pm in the Auditorium, admission 5 euros. Here he is performing right here in Salobreña. With scenes from the castle, el Peñon, Restaurant El-Peñon, Sunem and if you look closely, you will see the chap from Repsol on the guitar in Sunem. Brushes with greatness.
Sunday Dec 30th: Children’s Theatre: Theatre Group La Bombonera present “The Time Machine” Show starts are 12pm (noon) in the Auditorium. Admission 3 euros.
