Even in death there is beauty.
Anytime of year is a good time to visit Salobreña, however in winter it is especially nice from a horticultural standpoint. Most of the succulents and cacti are blooming or fruiting, and the sky is bluer than blue.
During the summer months, the mountain tops are usually not quite visible from Salobreña do to the humidity in the air which hovers low over the Sierra Nevada mountains and to some extent the Alpujarras making it look hazy. In the winter the air is crisp and clear and you can see for miles, and talk about blue skies, there is nowhere else quite like it.
Most of these photos were taken in the children’s park on Avenida de Mediterranea right here in Salobreña. Enjoy!
Lastly, a note about yesterdays leap onto the Freshly Pressed page, I could not have asked for a better birthday present, thanks for all the visits and fine comments.
I didn’t have the chance to comment yesterday, but just want to tell you how very much I enjoyed your two recent posts of the Alpujarras. My husband and I spent our honeymoon there, near Pampaneira, and made several trips to Bubion, Capileira and beyond. That was nearly 12 years ago, and in the summer, so it is fascinating to see familiar places again but in winter. Thanks! (Oh, and happy birthday!)
Thanks so much, did you make it to Salobreña?
No, sadly I don’t think we did. I’m sure I would have remembered the name. We’ll just have to come back some day!
‘That come hither look’ picture’s flowers look like bananas… lol
