Wednesday the 13th: Tomorrow is the first day of the Fiesta del Carmen, the patron saint of mariners. There will be a special mass said at the church in La Caleta beginning at 8pm which kicks off the 3 day celebration.
Thursday the 14th: Fireworks will kick off the parade thru the streets which start at the Casa de Cultura at 19:30
At 8pm we are back at the church, and at 9pm there will be sardines and Tinto de Verano for 1 euro available in the Plaza de La Guardia.
At midnight, the choosing of the Queen and King of the fiesta will be held in the Plaza de La Guardia.
Friday the 15th: At 5pm be at the Odeon Bar in La Guardia for the Concurso de Rentoy
At 5:30 there is a seniors picnic in the Hogar de Pensionista de La Caleta
At 7pm the childrens carnival kicks off in the Plaza de Lavadero- there will be bouncy castles, foam fights and musical animation.
At 8pm flower offerings may be made to the patron Carmen, roses are the flower of choice.
At 10pm it’s time to party, go to the park for an outdoor party with live music, you can’t miss it, it will be well lit, and very noisy.
Saturday the 16th: At 10:30 there is a dominoes tournament for seniors in the Hogar de Pensionistas
At 5pm the procession starts, the boats are adorned with flowers and lights and the Virgen del Carmen is taken down to the water and put onto a boat and taken around the bay.
At 8pm another mass in celebration of the Virgen del Carmen and then she is escorted back to her vault. Once she is in place, it’s back to the park for more partying and live music.
Sunday the 18th: At 11:30am Salobreña’s Municipal Band will give a concert in the Plaza del Lavadero
At 1pm a big bar will be setup in the Plaza del Lavadero, this will go on for several hours, and to conclude the fiesta, there will be fireworks at midnight. See you there!
