Joanne from the charity, Paws For Thought has asked me to pass on this important information regarding “What’s Happening” in the next few weeks.

First, every Monday from 10am-12pm Joanne and some of her volunteers will be selling books, dvd’s, vcr tapes and a host of other items at the store front next to the post office here in town.  The sign above the shop reads “Arnold’s Removals”.   So if you have removal jobs, I can recommend him myself, he is a wonderful fellow, and always on time.

All items are purchased by donation only, so that means that you can get books and dvd’s at a terrific price.  Be generous if you can, as all monies go to help the stray population here in Salobreña and up on the Monte de Los Almendros.  Besides spaying and neutering, many animals are treated medically for illnesses and re-homed where possible.  Healthy cats that are doing well in the wild will be re-released once spaying or neutering has been completed.

On December the 1st, there will be a Spay the Stray day.  On this day, they will be doing only cats this time.  Once a month a Veternarian comes to the area with a mobile clinic to “doctor” as many animals as possible.  Joanne and her crew care for the animals afterwards and ensure cats are fit to be released or are re-homed.  If you can help with either a donation, a loan of a large cage for after care or can help with the round up, or know of a spay or have a cat that needs spaying, please don’t hesitate to contact Joanne directly at 628 548 895.  Any help is appreciated, they do terrific work!

Next on the 11th of December, sees the annual Christmas dinner at the Asador Restuarant just across from Super Sol on the main road.     The Menu on the night will consist of the following:

Avacado and Prawn Cocktail with Salsa Rosa

Cream of Leek Soup

Your Choice of either a Beef or Tuna Steak

Served with Sautéed Vegetables and Home Made Fries

Tiramisu & Coffee

Mince Pie to Conclude

1 bottle of Red & White Wine per Table

1 Bottle of Mineral Water and 1 Jug of Beer per Table

Cost per person is just 24.50 euros

Includes 1 Raffle ticket- more may be purchased.

Reservations ONLY.

To make your reservation, please call 628 548 895 or 958 069 153

You can pop into the book shop at Arnolds Removals next to the Post Office.

A deposit of 10 Euros per person is required at time of reservation.

Please try and support them if you can.  Last year’s dinner was sold out, so make sure you book early.  For most ex-pats in the area, there is no real Christmas function to speak of, so come on out and see your fellow country men and women and support a great cause.  If you are new to the area, it is a great way to network.

Remember Spay or Neuter your pets people.
