So I was coming home from work the other day, and decided it was again time for the long way home.  This usually means a more scenic route, and I invariably find something a little more interesting to photograph.  I have passed by this homestead many times, and on numerous occasions attempted to get some photos of the doves that are always sitting on the fence in the yard.  There are geese and ducks as well, but the property is about 20 feet above the road, so it’s not that easy to get a good shot, but I have tried.  On this trip  the farmer asked me if I would like to come in and take photos rather than attempt them from the road, you never have to ask me twice.

First there is his gorgeous old retired hunting dog.  What a face!

I am not sure which of the two is more devoted.

None of the animals here were destined for the crock pot, all were just for the pleasure of keeping animals and of course their eggs.

When I first went into the yard, I saw many many birds with feathers sticking out at odd angles, I had thought that maybe he had broken their wings so that they could not leave, but I was relieved to find out that the problem stemmed from interbreeding, father-daughter, brother sister etc... I am sure he was talking about the geese.
